Follow-on training FAQ

These 6 week courses are the follow-on from the LWDT’s Beginners Course. We offer these at three different levels, with a focus of each dog completing their APDT UK Good Companion Award. Each award has different criteria, from loose lead walking to tricks, therefore keeping our training exercises varied!

LWDT Follow-On training can also include different activities, such as scentwork and tricks.

Times vary for each course - and can be weekdays or weekends, daytime or evening. Please enquire to find out about our future follow-on courses!

Beginners - Those new to training classes, and completing LWDT Beginners Course.

Improvers - The first step after the Beginners Course, and working towards to the Foundation GCA Award.

Intermediate - A class for those that have completed their Foundation GCA Award, and are now working towards their Progress Award.

Advanced - A class for those that have completed their Progress GCA Award, and are now working towards their Jubliee Award and beyond.

Follow-On courses start at £35 for a 6 week course - prices vary and depends on content, location and length of classes.

Follow-on courses are based at one of our two training venues in Northamptonshire (details below), please enquire to find out where our next course is being held.

Booking is essential for this course, and can be completed through the online booking system. Please note: Due to GCA courses being offered for various standards, LWDT reserve the right to alter/cancel bookings should a booking be made for a course that is incorrect/inappropriate.

Laura Wyllie is a member of the APDT UK with approximately 20 years of dog training experience. Over the years she has lived with a variety of breeds, from small fluffy ones to 40kg Shepherds. Laura has worked with a variety of breeds throughout the years, as well as experienced lots of training disciplines including obedience, flyball, agility, heelwork to music, rally and scentwork. To each training session, please bring some small, tasty treats (eg- hotdogs, cheese or chicken), ideally in a treat pouch. We also ask that you bring your dog’s favourite toy, a small mat for your dog to lie on, poo bags… and your dog!

Please do NOT bring extendable leads, choke chains or slip leads - these are not permitted in any of LWDT’s training sessions.

Please arrive before your class starts in order give your dog the opportunity to toilet on the grass areas before they begin training. Please pick up after your dog and take it home to be disposed of, unfortunately there is no poo bin nearby.
